Poetry, Distant Lands, and Mundane Realities

Today, I overheard an interesting conversation between a young person and an elder, and I'd like to share it with everyone.

Young Person: Could you tell me how you understand not just having poetry and distant lands in life, but also embracing the mundane realities of the present? I've thought about it for a long time, perhaps poetry, distant lands, and even the mundane could represent something else entirely!

Elder: That's a good question. It reflects two different states of being: distant lands and poetry represent an otherworldly perspective, while the mundane represents being grounded in the world. Of course, the mundane is just a definition; you can also define it as poetry and distant lands.

Young Person: I feel that poetry and distant lands might symbolize dreams, the life I long for in my heart, reckless love, the passion for a better life, whereas the mundane could represent the complexities of everyday life, like bread and water, or even the foundation supporting poetry and distant lands!

Elder: You're right. On the path to pursuing dreams, bread, water, and love will all come your way. I'm not sure what stage you're at right now.

Young Person: I want to pursue poetry and distant lands, but I can't abandon the mundane realities of the present, so I'm in a phase of confusion. I can only make judgments for myself, search for where my initial aspirations lie!

Elder: All the needs and conditions that support your dreams will come to you at the best possible time. When your initial aspirations arise, poetry and distant lands have already been achieved; it's just that their manifestation in this material world takes some time. So, you don't need to be lost or anxious – everything is perfectly arranged.

When you're uncertain and perplexed, ask yourself: If the other person were you, what would you do?
